HUNT MOTOCROSSING BACK TO THE FUTURE
30 years later, Ryan is back on a Yamaha YZ 250 at Foxhill!
Twelve-time former South African champion and motocross international, Ryan Hunt will be getting back to his old tricks over the last two weekends of August. Hunt is headed to England for double Veteran Motocross duty at the brand new World Vets event next weekend, before going back to the future in the Veteran Motocross des Nations a week later.
“I'm really looking forward to returning to the VMX des Nations far better prepared, after an exploratory attempt aboard a 1989 Tork Craft Honda CR 125 in the Evo class last year,” Ryan explains. “I raced a 125 cc two-stroke Team Tork Craft Husqvarna against the four-stroke 250s with some success in local OR2 races over the past months. I also raced the Impi Hard Enduro with my son Reece, where we finished in the top ten percent of the Bronze class.
“I will finish off my preparations by racing the new World Vets event at Farleigh Castle in England on a modern Tork Craft GasGas 150 2-stroke this weekend. Then it's the big one the following week. I'm pretty excited about that, because I'll be back aboard an identical Tork Craft Yamaha YZ 250 to what I raced in the original Motocross des Nations at the same Foxhill thirty years ago, back in 1993! Can you believe that?”
Motocross Grand Prix veteran Ryan earned both his South African Springbok and Protea National Colours in a glittering career that included winning those twelve SA National Championships. His international titles include British Supercross Champion and winning the Weston Beach Race at Super Mare. Ryan more recently switched Veteran Motocross and he's relishing getting back into action in the UK over the next two weeks.
Hunt races the World Vets at Fairleigh Castle 19-20 August before taking on the 25-26 August VMX des Nations at Foxhill.
